The Mandala Method

“The mandala is a template or blueprint of wholeness. It has a center and four directions. Associated with each direction is a color, an element, an obstructed pattern and a wisdom. It is a way to understand yourself and also your world.”

 – Lama Tsultrim Allione

Suitable for Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike, the Mandala Method is a toolkit of practices to empower personal and spiritual transformation.

It offers a contemporary application of mandala principles, transforming encumbered emotional patterns, such as ignorance, anger, and craving, into wisdom through meditation, sound, art, movement, and practice with the five elements

The foundation for this work is the five buddha families, which represent five styles of emotional suffering that transform into five manifestations of enlightened energy. This is an experiential and embodied way of working, exploring the divine feminine, masculine, and union of both feminine and masculine aspects of our psyche, regardless of our personal gender identity or expression.

This work bridges the inner path of awakening with our outer experience in the world. At its heart, the Mandala Method offers a way to transform encumbered emotions (ignorance, anger, craving, jealousy, and pride) into wisdom. The practices draw on meditation, sound, art, visualisation, and the alchemy of the five elements to restore balance and clarity.

Although rooted in Tibetan Buddhist teachings, these practices are open to all: people of any background, faith, or identity. For those drawn to mindfulness, it offers a deepened, embodied approach to spiritual practice. For long-time students of Buddhism, it offers new insight and fresh pathways into familiar terrain.

Our sessions may include:

  • Exploring the Five Families — understanding the mandala’s five energetic patterns and where certain emotions and habits take root.

  • Life Review Practices — guided meditations that trace the story of our emotional landscapes.

  • Meditations with the Mandala — working with the Mandala of the Dakini, the Buddha, and Yab Yum.

  • Inner Journeys — meeting the Dakini, Buddha, or Yab Yum in more depth.

  • Sound and Light Practices — unblocking and freeing encumbered energy.

  • Element Meditations — connecting each family to its natural element.

  • Creative Integration — bringing insights into form through mandala art.

Each session will be personalised to your needs, offering space for exploration, reflection, and transformation.

These practices are truly transformative, I have personally shifted many blocks and patterns over the last couple of years.

Sessions are held on Zoom. I offer day and evening slots on weekdays, and daytimes on weekends. If you are in the Brighton / Sussex area, we can discuss doing in-person sessions at a mutually convenient location.
